It's been two weeks since we said goodbye.
It is so hard to end this blog. It has helped so much at every turn. More than anything I want everyone reading this to know how much I appreciate you. Your prayers, love and God's grace has been amazing.
Oh I miss Jared. Kyle said it all...there is a Jared sized hole in my heart. He was my everything. My life will never be the same. He was an amazing, unbelievable person. He made me a better, stronger person and helped me to a better life. A life to worship and trust the Lord at every turn.
Jared is being rewarded now and I am so happy for him. He no longer has Leukemia (oh how he has waited for this day!). I know Jared is rejoicing in heaven. I can't wait to see him there and celebrate together his new, healed body.

To have witnessed your love for Jared and vice versa through these most difficult of circumstances makes me want to be a better person. I thank the Lord for the blessings he has provided me and I will be forever grateful to be blessed to know you. Christina, we rejoice with you knowing that Jared is free from Luekemia and is enjoying a new healed body, but we know the price to you was so high, and for that we are heartbroken. You were the reason Jared kept on living, and now you will continue to be the reason Jared keeps on living, just in a different way now, through your memories and love for him. I will miss reading and posting on this blog and it is hard knowing this is the final post, but we thank you for allowing us into your lives during your journey and we will always be forever grateful to you for that. You will always remain family and for that we are blessed. I will leave you with a poem that I have remembered ever since I was a little girl and I feel it is so fitting for our Jared:

I remember the day Jared called me to tell me that he was engaged. He was so happy. He kept going on and on about you and where you guys were going to get married. I also remember talking to Diane about your engagement and she said that Jared did such a good job picking you to be his wife she could not believe that she did not pick you herself. You were such a joy in his life. You guys had a love that many will strive for their whole lives and never receive. If there is anything that I can ever do for you please let me know. You are an amazing woman. I am not sure I could have done everything as gracefully as you did. I am sad that this is the last blog.

Christina, I am so proud of you, there are just no words. Jared was in our lives only five years, but I am so thankful for that time.
After knowing him only a few months, you told me he was "a keeper". You were so right. He was everything a mother dreams for her daughter. Had I been allowed to choose, I could not have picked a finer man to marry my daughter. I feel so blessed to have known him and loved him.
I want to thank your Texas support team, John and Janis, Hans and Janie, and Jareds movie buddy, Fred, and their families. This has been a long journey, and they have always been there. It has been a real blessing to see the love shared by all of Jareds family and friends. Jared was indeed a very rich man. Marylyn, you are the best AUNT ever. I am so proud to have known all of you and so thankful for the support and love you all have shown my daughter.
Now we have our memories of Jared. I have pictures of all the great times we shared as a family, Jared laughing, smiling, always so much fun. He will never, ever be forgotten. Jared was LOVED. Jared is now in Heaven watching over all of us, he must be so happy and proud.

My husband is a firefighter at Haltom City. I couldn't imagine losing my husband, my best friend. I think sometimes I even take him for granted and the fact that he is here with me every day is taken for granted even though he's in the line of work that he is in. Now, though, I realize that you can't take anyone's life for granted. This journey you have endured has made me realize that I need to stop taking anything and everything for granted, espeically those I love. It's made me realize that I need to stop sweatin' the small stuff and start embracing life and what God has blessed me with. SO, I want to thank you for this testimony of yours...and Jared's family. My dearest sister Christina,
You always said Jared was your everything. After listening, reading the blog, and observing the two of you, it only proves that two halves really do make a whole.I am so proud of you, as difficult as this has been for the rest of us, the way you and Jared have handled yourselves has been amazing. The two of have touched so many people thoughout this difficult time. Jared, the man with leukemia who still had his sense of humor, found reasons to get excited about life, and continue to get up everyday, if for nothing else but to watch a ballgame with friends and family. It is so hard to convey in words how much this family means to me. I have been blessed over and over by your love and compassion for others. Ya’ll are examples of how we need to live our lives through faith and trusting that the Lord is in control. Jared never lost sight of what was really important. History documents the success and failure of such moments. David’s defining moment came as he faced a seemingly overwhelming giant. David chose to trust the Lord and make his stand. The outcome of that decision has been a source of inspiration to generations. Job, in spite of everything dear to him being taken, chose to trust the Lord and made his stand. Conversely, Judas in his defining moment chose to betray his friend and Savior.
I have been both challenged and amazed as I have read these accounts, wondering what I would do in that situation. As inspiring as these written accounts are, I have now witnessed such an event in person. Your decision as a wife, parents, and siblings to trust the Lord and make your stand, in spite of your tremendous suffering, will forever be a part of me. There are those who can talk about the Lord and there are those who can reveal the Lord. Without exception, all of you have made it possible for us to actually touch the Lord and see His mercy revealed. Know that we will always be there for you.

How do I put into words the love and pride and gratitude I have for you, my dearest Christina- You who loved our Jared so much and cared for him better than any medical staff could have and gave him more joy in a few short years than most get in a lifetime.All I know is I cannot get him off my mind or out of my heart! Every time I turn around I am reminded of him-watching a Simpson's commercial the other night-all I could think of was that NO ONE could ever imagine what it took for him to get up and put forth the effort to enjoy life when his body was wasting away-it was for you, my darling, and I thank you for giving him the desire to carry on! You,too are a valiant warrior! I remember the night before my Rod died, Jared called him in the hospital and told him you were engaged and how happy we all were! Terry gave Rod the scripture out of Isaiah about the "feast of rich food-the best of meats (yes!) and the finest of wines(Rod liked that!)-death is swallowed up forever...and The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces"(6-8) I know our boys are on that mountain together and one day we will join them-and what a glorious day that will be! I loved my nights with him at the hospital as we had many a long talk (and I watched some bizarre things with him on the tube!) but he did talk about what a lucky man he was to have a wife like you and tho the Lord gave him the strength to go on, YOU were his reason for living! Thank you for giving us a little more time with him and for being such a dedicated, loving mate-"great will your reward be" My personal thanks to the friends down there who have looked after my bro and family-you're the best and a special thanks to Pastor Eric as he is truly a dedicated servant of the Lord and he truly has served this family well! Christina, I love you more than you will ever know and I too consider you my flesh and blood-always (my new "fav"!!) I remember when I found out that you and Jared were dating at the Rainforest and growing up with Jared it made sense that you two would be a great couple. With your personality, his wit and sarcasm was well complimented. :)
Seeing you in this battle for Jared and his life, gives "for better or worse, in sickness and in health" a new meaning. I agree with everyone when I say that I know you added days to Jared's life with your loyalty and love and for that we are all grateful. You are an amazing example of what can happen when you really let go and let God. When I think about hard things that I may go through in my life, I am always reminded of you and the walk that God has taken you through and it gives me hope and real evidence that God is always with me, no matter what.
Thank you for allowing the Lord to work through you and for loving the Waters and Jared so much. You all are very special to me in my life and I know the Lord is going to continue to bless all of you. I miss Jared so much and have recently been remembering things I haven't thought about in a long time and I think that's just God bringing to my mind the times when Jared was healthy and happy and that is how I will always remember him.

I am one of those people you were talking to when you mentioned the ones who have kept up with this blog over the months but never posted anything. Since I never met Jared I haven't felt comfortable doing so. However, with you being my friend, I will share with you some feelings I have. I have never left a funeral feeling so inspired as I did after Jared's!!! Inspired to develop a stronger faith/walk with God, live life to it's fullest, and just become a better person. It was absolutely beautiful, amazing, and touching!!! I left feeling as if I had met Jared because of all that was shared about his life. The choices of music were just perfect as well! What an amazing couple you have been, sharing God's love and being such a testiment of faith to others. What a deep commitment of faith you both have shared, especially being so young. I know this same faith in our Heavenly Father will carry you and the family through the following days, weeks, months, years. Allow Him to wrap His loving arms around you and give you the strength you need to carry on.

Once again I have to say how proud I am to say I am a Waters. You, Christina, are such a huge part of that. I would often put my troubles into perspective, after thinking how minor they were compared to what Jared was going through day to day. And I am still trying to do that. The Celebration of his life was one of the most inspiring events I have ever been to. I thank you all for that. I will never forget it, and I am continuing to let it work in my day to day life.
The grief I had after losing dad was tremendous, but I can't imagine the grief you have after losing your beloved Jared, who you should have had your long life with. But I guess those are the answers we will never get, and must forge ahead to put our lives back together with NEW perspective.
I think of you daily and continue to pray for you.

Hello. I googled "Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia" to see if there were any blogs out there to comfort my heart during my dad's battle with cancer. (He is still currently fighting.) Although I feel in one way I have invaded your privacy, in another, I know I would want to know when God has used me in a way I haven't known. Your blog has comforted my heart. The comfort you, your husband and your family has found in God through all of this is a shining example. Thank you for your blog to remind me to worship God in all things...even when things do not go the way we have planned. I have clung to the lyrics of "Still I will worship You".
