Hope is ALIVE in the Waters Compound !
To all of our faithful family and friends......a big thank you for all of the prayers and phone calls and meals and coffee and wonderful words of encouragement you have sent our way. You will never know the difference it has made ! Thank you for standing with us in this HUGE battle for Jared's life. As of today things are stable and moving slowly forward we think. The doctor's tell us it is a slow go with his lung condition and the only real big set back we feel we have had since last Thursday is that Jared pulled his vent tube out a couple days ago.....not a good thing !! They said that would set him back a couple days but if that is any indication of the fight in him, this mom is very encouraged !! The order of business for Jared now is 1. getting his lungs healed/healthy..2. healing of his intestinal track..3. leukemia... a huge task for us but not the Lord !! About 20 times a day we hear" he is critical/serious..he is young/strong..he is stable". So for today our prayer is for his lungs to get strong. We have taken over a corner of the ICU waiting room and we call it the Waters Compound. There are 3 recliners that we guard with our lives !!! We are filled with HOPE that God will see Jared through this !! We have seen him go through a lot in the last 8 months...it is amazing how he has bounced back so many times....this is his biggest challenge yet but we are confident that the Lord will meet him and us. Again, thank you so much for all the prayers. The notes of encouragement that you leave on his blog site mean a lot to us and he will enjoy reading them in the weeks ahead so keep them coming.
When Terry left Jared the other night he whispered in his ear" there is light at the end of the tunnel" and Jared shook his head yes....even in his weakest moment he has made my heart glad. Terry and I are so proud Jared, he has a fight in him that puts us to shame.

Hope is alive Missy Di, and it is so encouraging to all of us,here in Kansas and everywhere else, that all of you are holding strong to that as well. We wish we were there to hug you, encourage you, cook for you, whatever. But know that our hearts are filled with love, worry but hope for all of you. Thank you for keeping us all updated with the blog, we go to it everyday. We are so encouraged to see Jared's fight, the Lord continues to fight right along side with Jared.
You all are so strong, so faithful and so loved. We hope you feel it, always.

You guys are amazing! While our hearts ache for all of you, we continue to grow as you set an example filled with unmatched faith, compassion, strength and determination. We too, wish there was more we could do. Even though, we are separated by hundreds of miles, you are all very close to our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers.

Jared and family--It just breaks our hearts not being able to be with you all during this most difficult time, but know our prayers and constant and our faith is strong. We stand with you everyday and we are amazed at the strenght that all of you have shown us. You are all examples in what a "Christian" truly is. We are so proud of you guys in your steadfastness in the midst of this huge battle. We are praying for you and consider it a privilage to fight along side of you. I recently have been meditating on this psalm and it seemed to speak to this battle. I hope it is an encouragment to you all.

Praise the Lord!!!
The Lord is gracious and good. Much like you have staked your claim on the SE corner of the waiting room, the Lord has staked a claim on Jared's life and purpose. He will see you all through this and equip Jared's heart for a powerful ministry.

The Burke's have had the opportunity to see the Water's compound first hand and have enjoyed the luxury of being a part of one of the strongest support teams anyone could ask for. Jared is by far the strongest man I've ever met; body, mind and soul. Please continue prayer not only for him, but for his parents, wife, sisters, friends, etc. who have been sleeping in an ICU waiting room for days/nights on end in continuation of their never-ending love and support. I'm amazed...enough said.
