"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:14-17

Coming out of the fog

Sorry that it has been a few days since the last blog but we were vacationing in the Carribean. Just kidding. Time gets away from though in some regards it seems to move slowly. Jared has been over a week out of ICU and he is a little clearer and stronger each day. His goal for the end of the week was to stand on his feet however he did that on Mon. afternoon so Dr. Davis asked him what he would do on Friday? The reality of his present state has been coming clear the past few days and has been overwhelming to him to say the least so please pray for strength and courage in his inner man as well as the body. He does not see how far he has come since a month ago but we see daily improvement. We were talking about that this morning. As I was trying to encourage him two different staff people came in and remarked at how good he looked and how well he appeared to be doing. A timely word from the Lord (Prov. 25:11). The chemo. and radiation appear to be keeping things in check. The goal now is to rebuild Jared's strength for a bone marrow transplant. Dr. Davis has been talking with Baylor-Dallas about Jared which would be great especially logistically but we will do whatever. Let me brag on Christina for a second. She is the most amazing young lady. Over these past months she has met all the challenges and obstacles head on, not flinching but going right at it. I don't know that many young women her age could do it. We thank the Lord everyday for her and for the gift she is to Jared an us.(Prov.18:22) Thanks for all the love and support.

We are so glad to hear that Jared is gaining strength more and more each day. We will definitely pray for inner strength as I am sure it is so hard to comprehend all that he has been through and how far he has come. What an amazing person!! As for Christina, she has done more then I think most people could do at any age in life dealing with this kind of situation. What a true Love Story this has been to see unfold. We will pray for all of you as you continue to fight this battle with them. We will also be praying that Baylor-Dallas will be able to accommodate you for the bone marrow transplant. You continue to inspire us and we are standing wtih you. We look forward to hearing about the next steps that Jared takes that will amaze the Doctors even more then they already are. God Bless you all-We love you~~~Misty & Bob

It is impossible to empathize what you guys are going through, and what Jared must struggle with physically and emotionally just to make it through the day. All I can wish for is with the sun rise comes new hope and strength each and every day. While the road is long and treacherous with perils and potholes at every turn, one day this will be one bad MEMORY for Jared as he looks back with his loving family.

All my love
Your cousin,
Matt

ALL the family has been amazing in courage and patience and unity, together with about the most remarkable set of friends anyone could ever hope for. I rejoice in God's faithfulness to Jared and Christina and all the fam. And I believe for you, Jared that every day you will be stronger in spirit and body, by the blood of Jesus!

I am in awe of the strength you and your whole family has shown and it is a shining testament of what we can go through and what we can withstand, ONLY with the Lord. May He continue to be an everpresent peace in your life and the family's as you all make your way out of the fog.

You all are so amazing. We are so proud of you and to stand with you as family members.
As hard as it is Jared, you must dig down deep and stay strong. You have such faithful and powerful history of family behind you and then a wife to hold you up when you don't think you can. But you can sweetie, You Can!
We love you so very much, you consume our thoughts and prayers.
Hold Fast Dear Family!!

From one of my favorite old hymns: "...Morning by morning new mercies I see...All I have needed Thy hand hath provided...Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me."
That's what we're praying for Jared and the whole family.
