"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:14-17

My Hero

We have received some not so good news today. As indicated by yesterdays post Jared has been experiencing severe headaches and nausea along with other things. He went to the clinic today to run some tests. His blood work came back with elevated white cells, platelets in the toilet, and blasts which indicate leukemia. To say it did not knock the wind out of us would be dishonest yet our hope and confidence is in Him who made heaven and earth. We choose again to run to the battle and not away from it. Which brings me to the title of the post. I have said at different times how good Jared's attitude has been through this ordeal but I cannot really convey how proud I am of him and humbled by the way he has carried himself these past 16 months. Not once has he questioned, why me or be angry about his circumstance. As a matter of fact he was always finding people worse off than himself, showing sympathy for their problems. Not demanding, grateful for what people did for him. Always thankful to the Lord for how He has provided for them in so many marvelous ways. Perfect? No, but always pressing toward the high calling in Christ Jesus.Phil. 3:12. I hope that I can attain to half of his manhood in this life. He is my son and my hero. Sorry about the wordiness but I had to get that off my chest.
So here we are. Tomorrow we get with the doctor(Louis as Jared calls him) and see what the medical options are though he was very honest and said they are limited. We are grateful for these men but our hope transcends them.Ps33:16-19.
So please pray:
1. For wisdom beyond the doctors abilities.
2. Continued courage and strength for Jared and Christina(us too please)
3. No more headaches and nausea
4. Healing from this disease and all it's effects.
Once again thank you to all who check this blog and pray for Jared and us. Words cannot convey our thankfulness. Jared, I love you very much, Dad.

As you can see, I cannot sleep tonight and just got off the phone w/Jess-what a trooper. You are ALL my heroes as your family has stood up against everything Satan has thrown at you -God Bless each and everyone of you and as long as there is breath in Jared's body, I will fight for him with all my being! Anything less would defeat what he has stood for and I too burst with pride for my "fav" (you know it,huh?)"God's end is to enable me to see that He can walk on the chaos of my life just now. If we have a further end in view,we do not pay sufficient attention to the immediate present: if we realize that obedience is the end, then each moment as it comes is precious" (Oswald Chambers) and Jared, you have been obedient! As you can see, wordiness runs in the family! I love you all and am on my knees for you. Aunt Marylyn Phil.4:13

To all the Waters: You are setting a standard, modeled after Jesus Himself, for the rest of us. We wish we could be there to give each of you a hug and whatever else you might need, but we are continuing to hold each of you up in prayer--especially you, Jared. Believing the Lord knows best--we cannot believe anything else, we will keep praying! And many here are doing the same. Love to all.

FEAR AND FAITH
"Great acts of faith are seldom born out of calm calculation. IT wasn't logic that caused Moses to raise his staff on the bank of the red sea. It wasn't medical research that convinced Naaman to dip seven times in the river. It wasn't common sense that caused Paul to abandon the Law and embrace grace. And it wasn't a confident committee that prayed in a small room in Jersualem for Peter's release from prison. It was a fearful, desperate, band of backed-into-a-corner believers. It was a church with no options. A congregation of have-nots pleading for help.
And never were they stronger.
At the beginning of every act of faith, there is often a seed of fear.
I too run behind you towards this battle jared, I may not understand the Lord's ways but I expect the unexpected. I love you.

I think everyone who hasn't already should read the post by "jess" above. I don't think I know him, but I was inspired by his words. It is so reassuring in so many ways to read this blog everyday; day after day for the last 16 months. What a crowd of believers Jared has pulled together to give Glory to God.
I'm expecting another miracle, as are we all.

Jared,

The Lord is still on the throne and I trust Him in his infinite wisdom to walk you and your family through this. You have always been someone I look up to and admire (maybe not when I was younger and you were mean to Jo and I because you knew you could be) but I have for a long time now. God is good and I pray with everyone else, for His will to be done and for Him to move quickly. I love ya'll!!
