"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:14-17

Hope is ALIVE in the Waters Compound !

To all of our faithful family and friends......a big thank you for all of the prayers and phone calls and meals and coffee and wonderful words of encouragement you have sent our way. You will never know the difference it has made ! Thank you for standing with us in this HUGE battle for Jared's life. As of today things are stable and moving slowly forward we think. The doctor's tell us it is a slow go with his lung condition and the only real big set back we feel we have had since last Thursday is that Jared pulled his vent tube out a couple days ago.....not a good thing !! They said that would set him back a couple days but if that is any indication of the fight in him, this mom is very encouraged !! The order of business for Jared now is 1. getting his lungs healed/healthy..2. healing of his intestinal track..3. leukemia... a huge task for us but not the Lord !! About 20 times a day we hear" he is critical/serious..he is young/strong..he is stable". So for today our prayer is for his lungs to get strong. We have taken over a corner of the ICU waiting room and we call it the Waters Compound. There are 3 recliners that we guard with our lives !!! We are filled with HOPE that God will see Jared through this !! We have seen him go through a lot in the last 8 months...it is amazing how he has bounced back so many times....this is his biggest challenge yet but we are confident that the Lord will meet him and us. Again, thank you so much for all the prayers. The notes of encouragement that you leave on his blog site mean a lot to us and he will enjoy reading them in the weeks ahead so keep them coming.
When Terry left Jared the other night he whispered in his ear" there is light at the end of the tunnel" and Jared shook his head yes....even in his weakest moment he has made my heart glad. Terry and I are so proud Jared, he has a fight in him that puts us to shame.

HOPE IS ALIVE..WE LOVE ALL OF YOU!

A Critical Time...

Thursday's surgery showed that Jared's body was not healing from the surgery he had a few weeks ago. Many of the things the surgeon did to try and help his body heal properly just weren't working and Jared's immune system wasn't able to kick-in and really heal him from the surgery. They found that he had a lot of bacteria and cleaned him out they best the could, and put drains in this time to help get any fluid out that may accumulate.

Jared's condition is critical at this time. He is still in ICU on a ventilator and they are doing everything they can to help Jared's body kick into gear to do what it needs to do.

Here is the bottom line, Jared has to pull out of this. In order for that to happen his body's immune system and lungs need to start working well.

These are the specific things Jared needs prayer for right now:
  • No infection and a strong immune system.
  • Lungs would clear and he would be able to start breathing without the assistance of the ventilator.
  • His heart rate, blood oxygen and blood pressure would normalize and stay there.

We believe that God will do a miracle in Jared's body and he will be healed completely. The bible says that -

"When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight." Isaiah 59:19

This is the standard we have held since Jared first was diagnosed and God has done miraculous things for Jared. So when we have these situation arise and the enemy looks like he is flooding in, we hold this standard before him and he is put to flight. Jared will take back the ground that the enemy is trying to take from him and he will move further into the places the Lord has for him, and we believe that is complete healing.

Please believe that with us. All was ask is that you stand with us and believe for the Lord's hand to heal Jared's body. So now we wait, and pray and expect to see God do something amazing.

Thank you for your support, it is needed now more than ever. May the Lord bless you and protect you as you stand and fight with us.

Urgent Prayer Needed...

Jared was moved to ICU this morning due to the fact that they couldn't get a handle on his pain and he was losing ground. After moving to ICU they did a CT scan where it showed he has fluid and air in his abdomen. They are currently doing surgery to see what is leaking and where the problem is. They are going to put him on a ventilator because Jared's breathing has been so labored today.

Please pray for wisdom for the surgeons and doctors involved and also that Jared would have sustained strength to battle through another tough surgery.

All we can ask is please pray, pray, pray!

Another Chance to Experience a Miracle...

As we last posted Jared was undergoing a spinal tap to see if there was any cancer in the spinal fluid. Dr. Davis said today that there were no leukemic cells in the spinal fluid but taking into consideration all of Jared's other problems he believes that there is Leukemia hiding out somewhere in Jared's brain, therefore they are going to begin treatment starting today. Jared will have radiation treatments everyday for the next couple weeks and a chemo treatment in his spine every two weeks.

This was not what any of us hoped Jared would have to deal with but we are thankful they have found what the problem is and can begin to truly heal Jared. We believe this is another chance for us to see God's miracles performed in Jared's life. We hope for a miracle, we believe for it and we expect to see it happen.

Please pray for divine wisdom for the doctors and nurses who are caring for Jared. Also for supernatural strength and encouragement for Jared and Christina.

"Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness." Psalm 41:1-3

A Continuing Battle...

Jared was released from the hospital on Thursday and by Thursday night he was having complications with his right eye--having pressure, double vision and extremely sharp pains which were making him sick. By Saturday afternoon Jared was back in the ER where they ran some preliminary test to see if there was anything they could see. The MRI and CAT scan showed nothing, they then opted to keep Jared for further testing and observation.

There is currently a team of doctors looking at Jared's case and trying to find out what exactly is going on. Tomorrow he will have more test run, one of which will be a spinal tap to make sure there is no cancer in the spinal fluid or brain.

We are believe and are praying that the doctors find out what exactly is going on with Jared and that they will then begin to address the problem and Jared will continue to be healed.

We chose to believe that no matter what, Jared is being healed and we will continue to add more miracles to the list of growing miracles in Jared's life.

Please continue to stand with us in prayer for Jared and Christina. Thank you for your support and prayers, we feel them so abundantly each day.

On the Road to Recovery...

Sorry it took so long to get this update to you...

Jared was moved from ICU last week and is resting well and recovering on the Oncology floor, his home away from home. He is up taking little walks through out the day and is still on a liquid diet. He is healing well but still has quite a bit to go.

Thank you for your prayers and constant support, please continue.

New Challenges...

Jared had to go back into the hospital on Tuesday evening because of some complications he was having. He had surgery yesterday on his colon to remove what the doctors called a perforation, which was the cause of a lot of pain and some air in his abdomen. The surgery went well but it will be a very long and painful recovery for Jared, but we are believing for the Lord to move on his behalf. He is currently in ICU where they are able to keep him more comfortable and give him more attentive care.

Please pray for the following:
  • The healing will be complete and quick
  • His body will start functioning as it needs to
  • His pain and discomfort will be minimal
  • The doctors will have wisdom about how to care for Jared
  • Christina and the rest of the Waters family will have strength and peace

We appreciate your support and really need your prayers at this time. Thank you for continuing to stand and fight this battle with us.
