"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:14-17

Maintenance Phase...

Jared will officially move into the maintenance phase of his treatment starting Monday. This consists of in-office and home treatments, this phase will last for two years. The results of the spinal fluid came back clear with no traces of cancer, praise the Lord! Jared had a bone marrow biopsy today and he should get those results next week.

Jared is doing well and gaining strength daily, thank you for your prayers.

We will continue to keep you updated on Jared's progress and pass on any new information.

Thank you for the blessing of your support.

Happy to be Home...

Jared was released yesterday from the hospital and is currently resting and regaining strength at home. The spinal tap on Thursday went very, very well. The pain was minimal, thank you Lord. He is still waiting on the results of the spinal tap, he should receive that information on Tuesday. His vision has cleared up, praise the Lord, and the pressure is easing. The doctors has not found any conclusive evidence as to why all of this occurred and they cannot find any lingering issues. We are left with a lot of unanswered questions but instead of being defeated by this we choose to believe that God's miraculous hand moved in Jared's life, and that is all the explanation we need. With that being said, they are still monitoring Jared to make sure nothing pops up. His next doctors visit is on Tuesday and we will keep you posted on any news we get.

Thank you so much for your fervent prayers, Jared's healing is a testimony to your faithfulness to intercede on his behalf. We are blessed and humbled by your friendship and love for Jared, Christina and the rest of the Waters family.

Goodbye ICU...

Jared was moved yesterday from ICU back to the Oncology floor, praise the Lord!He was also ready to be back, and I quote, "Where those women know how to take care of me." As always Jared is his witty self, and we love it!

Today they are going to be running some more tests on him to try and pinpoint what is really going on. He is scheduled to have a spinal tap this afternoon in order to get another sample of spinal fluid to test. Please pray for courage and peace for Jared today. We really don't have a lot of information at this time, but when we do we will let you know.

Please continue to pray for the following:
  • Doctors would have wisdom and insight into Jared's condition.
  • Jared would be completely healed, his sight would normalize and the headaches would subside.
  • Strength, endurance and hope for Jared, Christina and the Waters Family.

Your prayers are what help us stay afloat! We are eternally grateful to all of you.

And He's Off...

Jared came off of the ventilator yesterday and is breathing well on his own. He is still very out of it from all the drugs they have had him on, but he was able to eat a little yesterday and today had a normal breakfast.

The EEG came back clear yesterday, which is great news but still leaves us without any answers on what caused the seizures in the first place. We are basically in a holding pattern right now, we just have to wait for Jared to get out of the fog of all these drugs and then they can start more tests.

Here are the things we ask prayer for:
  • All things hidden in Jared's body would be revealed.
  • Renewed strength, hope and peace for Christina and the rest of Jared's family.
  • Wisdom and insight for the doctors.

We cannot express to you how much we need your prayers right now and how thankful we are to be receiving them. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.

Thank you for your unending support!

New Battle...

Jared went into the ER yesterday because he was having serious pain behind his eyes and having double vision. They did a pressure test and a MRI which showed nothing. Jared's oncologist Dr. Turner was with him in the ER and took some spinal fluid to test it for any leukemia in his brain, which consequently is someplace Leukemia hides out. He was then admitted and after some of the tests were run on the spinal fluid it wasn't very conclusive that there was cancer in his brain, but Dr. Turner was very suspicious of Jared's symptoms so they kept him at the hospital. Last evening after they gave Jared a dose of chemo into the port in his head Jared had a series of 5 grand mal seizures.

Jared is currently in ICU hooked up to ventilator but his lungs are clear and sound good and hopefully will be coming off the ventilator soon.

Here is where our new battle comes in, they confirmed today that Jared does have leukemia in his brain and is now on a new treatment schedule which will require 2 treatments a week, which will not be outpatient.

We need you to please continue to pray for Jared that the Lord would heal his body. We are believing that the Lord will once again work miraculously in Jared's body. All of our hope is in the Lord and He is trustworthy, we know He is faithful to Jared and Christina.

Good News

Well, I finally got to come home after a 16 day stay for my final treatment last wednesday. Since I've been home things have been going well, I've had two doctor visits which both went very well. The most recent visit this past Tuesday gave us our first normal blood test result that we have had, all of my counts are not only good but they are in the normal range, Glory to God! I am feeling very good and don't have to go back to the doctor until the 26th, so it will be nice to get a break. Christina and I are leaving this afternoon for Carlsbad for a quick visit with her family and most importantly for my niece's birthday, I have been looking forward to this trip because it is something we have done every year since we have been together, and going on this trip makes me feel that much closer to having my life back. I really needed all of your prayers and encouragement to get through my final treatment, and I cannot thank you all enough for including me in your daily thoughts and prayers, I am honored that so many people would think that much about me. I want to tell you the Lord heard your prayers, and He gave me overwhelming grace to make it through those 16 long days and nights, and I never felt that I couldn't do it until the morning that I actually got sent home. His love, grace and mercy is sufficient!! Christina and I are blessed with absolutely amazing families, and the best friends we could ever ask for, thank you all for going through this journey with us, we don't know what the next part will hold for us, but we know that with the Lord and all of you on our side we can handle whatever the future holds for us. We love you all with all of our hearts, thank you for everything.

Day Fourteen...

Well unfortunately this is Jared's fourteenth day in the hospital, his longest visit yet. He is fighting a serious infection and at times running a very high fever. He is patiently waiting for his white blood cells to increase so they can fight off infection.

So yet again, we are calling all of our prayer warriors! Please pray for the following:
  • That all of his levels, especially his whites, go up and stay up.
  • That the fever will go down and stay down.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us in this fight. We hope to report good news in a few days!
