"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:14-17

Huge Victory!!!!

Jared received amazing news today - There is NO CANCER in his bone marrow!!! Thank you Jesus!! As you can imagine this is amazing news to Jared and Christina and it helps to lighten their load.

"Through You we push back our enemies; through Your name we trample our foes. I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory, but You give us victory over our enemies, You put our adversaries to shame. In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise Your name forever." Psalms 44:5-8

Thank you to all who pray for Jared, you share in this victory! Keep pressing in and I know there are more miracles to come!

Home Sweet Home...

Jared went home today!! They performed the bone marrow test, we should get the results in a few days, and they were also able to access the port in his head to do a chemo treatment in the spine. He is still very tired and recovering from this round of chemo. Jared should be able to spend around 8-10 days at home, which both he and Christina really want and need.

Continue to post and pray for Jared and Christina and as more news comes in we will let you know.

Thank you for your love and support, may the Lord bless you for it!

Round Three Update...

First off, sorry for the delay on this post...computer problems.

Jared is doing the best that can be expected right now. This round of chemo is similar to his first round. He isn't having extreme reactions but has ongoing nausea which enables him to eat a lot and he is very tired. Please pray that he will continue to regain his strength and that there will be minimal effects of the chemo and maximum results.

They were unable to access the port in his head to give him a round of chemo in his spine and the surgeon is supposed to come in today to take a look at it. Tomorrow they will do a bone marrow test to see exactly where they are and if the treatment has been effective thus far. We are believing the Lord for a good report.

Christina is at school all week during the day for orientation. Please pray for strength and focus and she is away from Jared.

We wanted to send a big thanks to Austin, Sniper & Terminal entertainment, The Rainforest Cafe, Texas Jive, and all the bands who participated in the Music for Life benefit for Jared. Your kindness and compassion is overwhelming, we are so blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing and talented group of people. May you be abundantly blessed for your generosity.

Thank you for continuing to post messages to Jared and Christina, it is a tremendous blessing to them and the Waters family.

Round Three...

Jared checked into Harris HEB today to start round three of his chemo treatments. He is in room 208 and you can call him at (817) 685-4208. Visitors are more than welcome at this time but please call his room before you come to make sure it is a good time.

He was released on Monday from Baylor and was able to spend a few nights at home(that's always a good thing). On Tuesday his staples were removed from his head where they put in the port. Wednesday he had is blood levels checked and they decided they were good enough to start the next round of chemo.

Please continue to pray for the following -
  • Complete healing in Jared's body.
  • Maximum results, minimum side effects, when it comes to the chemo
  • Jared's ports would be accessed easily and on the first attempt
  • Jared and Christina would continue to find favor with the Medicare, SSI Disability and Hospital Business offices.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support, we are so grateful for it. Please continue to post messages to Jared and Christina, they are so encouraging to them.

"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2:24

Getting Better...

Today is a better day, Jared is making small strides to getting better. He is still highly susceptible to catching viruses which is why we must ask that no one visit Jared at this time. If you want to let Jared know you are thinking about him please opt to post a message on this site. We all want to make Jared better, right now this is the best way to do that.

Thank you for your kindness and continue to pray for Jared's healing.

Rough Days...

Jared has had some very rough days since coming home from the hospital on Saturday. He is having bad acid indigestion, mouth sores and a very swollen throat. He decided it was best to go back to the hospital yesterday evening. So they had to make an emergency trip to Baylor Grapevine. He is on IV fluids today and they are just running some more tests to see exactly what is going on in his body. He has not been able to get good sleep so that just makes it harder for his body to recover. Please pray that Jared's body would be healed and that the swelling would go down in this throat, that the mouth sores would subside and that he would have long, restful sleep. We know that the Lord is touching Jared even now and that He is directing the doctors and giving them wisdom.

Please continue to post comments to Jared. He asked for us to bring the laptop up to him so he could read what you have written while he is in the hospital.

Continue to pray for Jared and Christina today, pray for peace, wisdom and comfort.

Home Again, Home Again...

Jareds surgery on Friday went well to put the port in his head. Saturday they were able to go home but not before Jared had a transfusion of 4 bags of blood. This round of chemo has been very hard on Jared, the side effects are very painful. He is trying to stay positive but we all know that is hard to do when you are in extreme pain. Please pray for the side effects to be lessened and that Jared can get some restful sleep (and Christina too!).

Jared really enjoys reading the posts that many of you have written so please continue to do so. We know this is an encouragement and faith-builder for him and Christina. It just helps to see that people are thinking about and praying for them.

Please continue to pray for Jared, especially now as he is recovering from the second round of chemo. We believe that the Lord is healing Jared and we look towards the day when he can shout from the roof tops that he is completely and utterly healed!

We cannot tell you how much we appreciate all of you. Your prayers are meeting every need we have, thank you for that!

Round Two Continued...

Jared is almost through with his second round of chemo and he is doing very well. Today he went for a walk twice and was feeling pretty good. Tomorrow at 7:30am Jared will be having a port put into his head to continue chemo treatments in his spine. They opted to put the port in his head because it is better than having to go in and do a spinal tap each time they need to do a spinal chemo treatment. It is actually pretty interesting: there are two chambers on each side of your brain which hold spinal fluid; this spinal fluid circulates throughout the brain and spinal column and the port will go directly into one of those chambers. Even though to the neurosurgeon this is a very common procedure Jared still needs to be covered in prayer.

Jared and Christina were unable to obtain the high risk health insurance they had hoped for. They do qualify for Medicare but they were told there is a two year waiting list. We are praying that the Lord would supernaturally push them through this process and Jared would be covered immediately. Please pray with us for favor with the Medicare office.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support, you are making a difference!

Round Two...

Jared started his second treatment yesterday at Harris HEB, and he is doing very well. Like Grammy Waters said "We pray that every drop of medicine that goes in him will do exactly what it is supposed to do!" He is currently in room 210 and he said that visitors are welcome, just call before you come.

Jared and Christina are overwhelmed with all the love and support they have been shown and they know they forgot many thank you's! So thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone, you are each so special to them.

Thank you specifically to the staff and families at Highland Village Elementary for their generous support! What an amazing group of people.

Please continue to pray for the following:
  • The side effects from the chemo would be minimal
  • Jared would continue to respond well to treatment

Thank you for your prayers, they are really what need during this time.

Letter from Jared...

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know how I am doing and also to pass along some much needed thank you's. I am feeling pretty good, this past week was a very good week. Tomorrow afternoon I am checking back into the hospital (Harris H-E-B) to start Round 2 of chemotherapy. It was only two weeks ago that we started the chemo and we are hopeful that we can stay on a two week schedule. Thankfully I will only have to stay in the hospital for five days this go around. My doctors are very pleased with the way everything is going so far, and we are as well. The side effects from my treatments have been very minimal so far and we ask for prayers for that to continue. We feel very well taken care of so far, the outpouring of support and prayers have been overwhelming. This situation that I find myself is not about me having leukemia, there's not a question of whether I am going to come out of this healed, but what I am keeping my eyes on is the plan the Lord has for Christina and I through this journey. We expect for the Lord to be glorified through this experience, and that is our prayer and I ask for it to be your prayer as well. Let me say thank you to my families, The Waters have been just what I have needed through this and that is just being the Waters, The Smiths especially Mary have gone above and beyond for us, The Schliemers, Souths, Leatons have been so good to us we can never say thank you enough. Grace Community Church and Pastor Eric have been so helpful to us, and to all of the local Fire Departments especially Haltom City Fire Department thank you, your generosity to me and my family will never be forgotten. To my friends at Rainforest, thank you for continuing to care for me and my family. I am so richly blessed in every aspect, and I will never forget the love of the Lord and friends, family and strangers that I have experienced in these past few weeks. Thank you all so much, and don't hesitate to come visit me, I love visitors (unless there is a no visitor sign hanging up, then I'm just probably tired :)!

I love you all,

Jared

Heading Home!

Jared is being released from the hospital today and heading home! He is very, very happy to get out of that room and be in his own home. The oncologist decided that Jared would probably be better off at home because he would be in less contact with people than in the hospital. His white blood cells counts are still very low and he is scheduled to have a steroid treatment tomorrow. He despite the low counts he looks good and seems very normal. Praise the Lord!

We wanted to thank Cinnamon Dilts and Lynn Rudkin for hosting the Mary Kay open house yesterday. All profits from this open house go to Jared and Christina. We were so blessed by their generosity and support and we just wanted to make sure everyone knew how thankful we are for them.

Elijah, Joanna and Cinnamon Dilts, Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant

Please continue to pray that the Lord would work out possible insurance coverage for Jared and that all his levels would be exactly what they need to be.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support!
